Handmade Re-Verification Email

In the realm of online selling, we understand that meeting specific category requirements can sometimes be a complex endeavor. Today, we want to shed light on a communication that some of you may receive from time to time from Amazon's Handmade Integrity Team. This email carries crucial insights about preserving your selling privileges in the Handmade category.

The Email: Unveiling the Essentials

The email, sent by Amazon's Handmade Integrity Team, is directed at Handmade sellers who may not have met the prerequisites for selling in the Handmade category. This evaluation process stands as a testament to Amazon's commitment to upholding the quality and authenticity of products in the Handmade store. The email comprises a set of queries and requests for precise information concerning sellers' production procedures and business operations.

Now, don't freak out.  Even as a large seller, I've received this email.  They are doing their job at securing the Handmade aspect of the category and for that, I am grateful.

The email required sellers to provide comprehensive details about (full detail of email is below):

  1. Production Processes: Sellers were tasked with providing an elaborate account of how they craft their handmade products. This encompassed the design journey, crafting techniques, and step-by-step creation of each item. Below is an example of what you could adapt to write for your process :

    • We specialize in crafting and showcasing our exquisite handmade necklaces. Our creative process involves intricate design, meticulous crafting, and strategic marketing efforts. Each necklace is a testament to our passion for jewelry-making, and we take pride in offering unique pieces that resonate with our customers.

Our necklaces are crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. We begin by selecting high-quality materials that align with our vision. Over years of experience in the business, we have curated a diverse collection of beads, gemstones, chains, and pendants. This assortment allows us to create necklaces that cater to various styles and preferences.

The necklace-making process begins by carefully arranging the chosen beads and gemstones to achieve a harmonious design. We ensure that each element complements the others, contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal of the piece. The meticulous placement of each bead is crucial to creating a balanced and visually pleasing necklace.

Once the bead arrangement is finalized, we move on to stringing. We use durable and flexible threads or wires that ensure the necklace's longevity while maintaining its flexibility. The choice of stringing material is vital to guaranteeing the necklace's comfort and durability when worn.

The centerpiece of our necklaces is often a beautifully crafted pendant. These pendants range from intricate metalwork to elegant gemstone settings. Our attention to detail is evident in the way we securely attach the pendant to the necklace, ensuring that it remains the focal point and doesn't compromise the overall structure.

After the pendant is in place, we carefully secure the necklace's ends using high-quality clasps. These clasps not only provide functionality but also add a touch of elegance to the finished piece. Our commitment to quality extends to every component of the necklace.

Once the necklace is assembled, we meticulously inspect each piece to ensure it meets our high standards. Our dedication to quality control ensures that every necklace leaving our studio is flawless and ready to be worn and cherished.

From the initial design to the final product, our entire process takes place within our dedicated workspace. We believe in maintaining complete control over every step, from crafting and quality assurance to packaging and customer service. This approach allows us to maintain consistency and uphold the reputation we've built over the years.

Our devotion to crafting unique and captivating necklaces is mirrored in every necklace we offer. By embracing the artistry of jewelry-making and leveraging our expertise, we're able to provide our customers with wearable works of art that capture their individuality and style.

At [Your Business Name], our passion for necklace-making drives us to create exceptional pieces that stand out in the world of accessories. We take pride in crafting each necklace with care, and we're delighted to share our creations with you. From our workspace to your jewelry collection, every step is infused with dedication and creativity.

  2. Location and Team: Amazon sought information about where the items are crafted and whether sellers work individually or as a team. If operating within a team, sellers were required to furnish details about the roles of team members and their employment status (employee, contractor, or unpaid associate).

  3. Time and Quantity: Sellers were requested to outline the time required to complete an item after its design, coupled with the number of items they could produce in a week.

  4. Production Documentation: The email necessitated the submission of three to five photographs or videos that depict the production process of listed items. Each visual was to include a business card or prominently feature the business name or logo.

  5. Additional Details: Sellers were given the opportunity to provide supplementary information that would enhance Amazon's comprehension of their craft and business.

Responding to the Email: A Seller's Odyssey

One Handmade seller graciously shared their journey of responding to this email. They meticulously addressed each query, underscoring their unwavering commitment to crafting handmade products. This seller, who chooses to remain anonymous, offered varied examples of their craft, illustrating their versatile approach to crafting processes.

The first attempt at sending a response failed because the message size has to be smaller than 20MB.  Once the size was reduced, the seller sent the email and received a follow-up additional appeal letter (see example below).  In response to that letter, the seller removed the video as well as any reference to the video and resent the exact same response less those omissions.

The Verdict: An Update on Selling Privileges

Following this final submission of information, the seller received a response from Amazon's Handmade Integrity Team (details/example below). The team reviewed the provided details and determined that the seller could continue offering their products in the Amazon Handmade store. This outcome underscored the importance of transparent communication and adherence to Amazon's requirements.
